Collagen
At Novus DNA, we choose ingredients for how they function in the body and how they support physical performance over time.
Human collagen is primarily composed of Type I and Type III collagen, the dominant structural proteins in skin, tendons, ligaments, joints, and connective tissue. Bovine collagen naturally provides both types, making it structurally aligned with the collagen found throughout the human musculoskeletal system. It is also the form most commonly used in human research investigating joint comfort, connective tissue integrity, and skin quality, all of which underpin physical resilience and long-term performance.
The effectiveness of collagen is influenced by both source and processing. Our collagen is enzymatically hydrolysed to a low molecular weight, allowing it to be efficiently absorbed and utilised by the body. This improves bioavailability and supports consistent delivery of the amino acids required for connective tissue maintenance and repair.
Collagen plays a critical structural role in tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and fascia, tissues that are placed under repeated load during training, work, and everyday movement. Supporting these structures is essential for maintaining joint comfort, mobility, and the ability to remain physically active across decades, not just during peak performance years.

We also take a precautionary approach to purity. Marine environments are increasingly affected by microplastic contamination, which has been documented throughout the ocean food chain. For a supplement intended for daily, long-term use, we have chosen not to use marine collagen in order to minimise avoidable exposure and prioritise clean, consistent intake.
Sourcing matters just as much as formulation. Our bovine collagen is produced in Sweden and selected for its high standards of animal welfare, food safety, and full supply-chain traceability. This ensures consistency, purity, and robust quality control from raw material through to the finished product.
Thanks to its neutral taste and heat stability, our collagen can be easily incorporated into everyday foods such as soups, stews, and family meals. This makes consistent use simple and sustainable, supporting long-term adherence rather than short-term interventions.

We choose ingredients because they work, quietly, consistently, and in service of long-term physical performance.
